The Blurb -
Since the gripping conclusion of Once A Witch, Tamsin Greene has been haunted by her grandmother's prophecy that she will soon be forced to make a crucial decision—one so terrible that it could harm her family forever. When she discovers that her enemy, Alistair Knight, went back in time to Victorian-era New York in order to destroy her family, Tamsin is forced to follow him into the past. Stranded all alone in the nineteenth century, Tamsin soon finds herself disguised as a lady's maid in the terrifying mansion of the evil Knight family, avoiding the watchful eye of the vicious matron, La Spider, and fending off the advances of Liam Knight. As time runs out, both families square off in a thrilling display of magic. And to her horror, Tamsin finally understands the nature of her fateful choice.
My Review -
I loved Once a Witch but l loved Always a Witch even more!!!
All the new characters which are brought into this book are unique, interesting characters which all have a real meaning within the story meaning none feel out of place or just 'there' which l find can happen in 2nd books in a series.
Tasmin is developed even more within this story and l felt her character stayed the same which is a good thing when you liked her character in the previous book. I have seem numerous of reviews where the characters have just changed too much in the second book, l felt the complete opposite of this!
The plot is even faster paced than in Once a Witch (which was pretty fast paced) and you can't stop at any place within this book and not find yourself wondering what's going to happen next until you pick the book up next. Even when you get to the next chapter there is always a cliffhanger making you want to read more!
The ending was nearly a disappointment but then l got to the last 5% (Kindle) and it totally turned around, WOW! It's not a big cliffhanger if there is going to be a third book and being honest it would be a good ending to the whole series as l feel satisfied with the ending, its one of those books you put down and are left with a book smile on your face.
At some points l did find myself confused because the times changing but most of the time l came to understand the thing l was confused about. The concept of the time seemed very thought out at all times and it was actually very interesting sitting there trying to figure it out then being like "Oh yes, thats very clever!"
Overall l loved this book, its a fun read which leaves you laughing in some places but also totally gripped in others. The interactions between the characters are great to read, even more so with the new characters and the good/evil traits.

  2. I'm actually going to be reading/reviewing this closer to the release date...

But, I haven't read the first book in the series. What do you think? Can I manage just reading the sequel or should I go back and read the first book?

  9. If the sequel is even better, I'll definitely read this series since usually the sequel tends to not be as great as the first book.

  10. Is this book well enough written too be an adult read as well as a young adult? I find the cross over so hard to find sometimes. I like an easy read, love anything vampire, witch, angel etc and usually find the best in young adult but some turn out too be a little too blandly written.

It certainly sounds an interesting storyline and I would be interested in reading if it is.

    I would say yes!
It was a good read and the writing was definitely good. Not to the point were the writing was breathtaking but it was definitely written well.
