Thanks so much to everyone for the kind words.
My Grampy has been mentally ill for a while and everything got too much for him.
I am glad for him that he is finally at peace but will very much miss him.

ReplyDeleteI'm incredibly sorry to hear about your grandfather. I have only lost one grandparent (my grandpa on my mother's side). It can be very difficult adjusting to the idea of someone having passed away. My sincerest condolences to your family in this time of sorrow. You seem to have a good view, though -- focus on happy memories.
ReplyDeleteI can also understand the thought that he is not suffering anymore. While my grandfather was not mentally ill, he had extremely severe diabetes that had caused massive nerve damage to his feet; meaning constant pain.
My apologies if this sounds trite, but remember that he wants / would want (I'm using past and present tense; I know some people have a preference in this sort of situation) you to be happy.
Take care!
I'm so sorry for your loss.
