The Blurb :
Bianca wants to escape.
She's been uprooted from her small hometown and enrolled at Evernight Academy, an eerie Gothic boarding school where the students are somehow too perfect: smart, sleek, and almost predatory. Bianca knows she doesn't fit in.
Then she meets Lucas. He's not the "Evernight type" either, and he likes it that way. Lucas ignores the rules, stands up to the snobs, and warns Bianca to be careful—even when it comes to caring about him.
"I couldn't stand it if they took it out on you," he tells Bianca, "and eventually they would."
But the connection between Bianca and Lucas can't be denied. Bianca will risk anything to be with Lucas, but dark se
crets are fated to tear them apart . . . and to make Bianca question everything she's ever believed.

My Review :
This book is one which pretty much grips you right from the beginning with the scene being introduced quickly as well as the main character, Bianca. Along with Bianca every character in this book is interesting, unique and brings up a lot of questions in your mind about them as characters and what their role is going to be in this book.  l find with dark paranormal books a lot really does depend on the characters and how the author makes them come across to the reader. Claudia has done such a great job with this, making the reader unearth so many questions for each character. You find yourself really wanting to find more out about each character and their life's... this makes the book a whole lot more interesting to read!
Even though having all these characters in the book really does make you engrossed at the beginning l found it hard to keep track of all the characters, sometimes getting confused with who was who and what l knew about them so far.
I have to say, even though it's such a small thing, l found it annoying how every chapter's first line started in block capitals. It just got to me because most authors use capitals to emphasize something. I think with such a small thing getting to me in the book and it being the only negative thing in this book it shows how much l enjoyed it and what a great read it is.
Claudia has done a great job of putting her 'stamp' on the world of paranormal books, l didn't in any way find this repetitive from what l have read in other books and loved many of Claudia's ideas for this book. l hope it continues into Stargazer.
If you haven't started reading this series then all l have to say is .. You should! I am excited to start the next one but have so many books to review this one will have to wait.
