Series : #1 Shatter Me
Released : 15th November 2011
Publisher: Harper Collins
The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette's touch is fatal. As long as she doesn't hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don't fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.
The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war-- and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she's exactly what they need right now.
Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

Sadly it’s kind of the same story for most of the books I am reading lately. I start them and then get really busy and can’t read for a week or so and then come back to it and just can’t get into it. Although Shatter Me was a bit different because as soon as I picked the book back up I got straight into the storyline and was gripped constantly. I am just gutted that I couldn’t read this in a few days because it’s such a unique twist on paranormal and dystopia worlds. I love how both these worlds are brought together.
The storyline is a nice gradual one in which the paranormal powers are a big part of the story but aren’t the main only thing in the story. I really liked this and found it refreshing. Paranormal factors didn’t even really come into the book too much until closer to the end. The whole factor that Juliette can’t touch anyone is one which I found fascinating. I think it’s the type of power which the author makes it up to be. By that I mean it could have been a pretty boring power but Tahereh built the power up to be really interesting, I was interested to see how Juliette dealt with this power.
The storyline is one which gets stronger and stronger the more you read. The beginning draws you in; I was totally intrigued after just reading the first few lines on the first page. What I loved even more is that Tahereh keeps you interested throughout the whole book in different ways. I liked the introduction of new characters and that this was done throughout the book. Sometimes too many character is too confusing and over powers the storyline.
One thing is that I didn’t find myself drawn in by the romance and this is probably another reason it’s not 5/5 but I think that may just be me at the moment. I haven’t been drawn in by any romance lately!
Final Thoughts
Shatter Me is a totally unique book which starts off as it means to go on with a gripping storyline which will keep you on your toes and hooked.
Glad your enjoyed this! I loved it!!
