Top Series of 2010

Read series in 2010
Shopaholic seires (Minus Mini Shopaholic.
I started this series before l got into paranormal and loved it! l think l read the whole series within a week period (but not actually all in a row). They are so funny and although the main character annoys me at some points l truly loved being a part of her world!
They are a fun read and perfect for a holiday or to relax while reading.

Sleepless Nights
#1 Bed Rest Series - Sarah Bilston
This is a simple plot but yet both books l enjoyed, they are funny and very easy read. Like the shopaholic series l read these before l got more into paranormal books.

I heart series
I had seen these books round so much and after being recommended them l got the first book, l was totally gripped and although the second didn't live up to the expections as much l still loved both the second and third books in this series.
# 1 I Heart New York
# 2 I Heart Hollywood
# 3 I Heart Paris

The Wolves of Mercy Falls Series
#1 Shiver
# 2 Linger
This series is my favourite series of the year, just both amazing books, especially Shiver. It's a whole new world which you get gripped into, the relationships feel so real as well as the characters. This series is the series which got me into paranormal and l will always remember this series!

Hush Hush Series
Wow, just amazing. l loved both but the second one stood out to me even more than the first. The ending l found so fustrating and can NOT WAIT till the 3rd one is released. Was very much left on a cliffhanger. If you haven't read this series then you should.
#1 Hush Hush
# 2 Crescendo

The Immortals series (Minis Nightstar)
This book didn't always grip me and l even found myself frustrated by this book in a bad way. The writing wasn't always the best, sometimes unrealistic and boring but yet l still found myself desperate to read the next in the series! Glad l have read this series and have Nightstar on my kindle.
#1 Evermore
#2 Blue Moon
#3 Shadowland
#4 Dark flame
#5 Nightstar [not read yet]

Fallen series
l loved this series, it's wasn't up in my top two favourites but l am very glad l read these books and look forward to the third one being released. What great covers! Wonder what the third one will look like.
#1 Fallen
#2 Torment

Top 10 Covers of 2010

Top 10 covers of my read books 2010.
These are the top 10 covers of the books which l read in 2010.
I find it impossible to find the best covers of 2010 because there is SO many amazing ones out there.
Top 5
 >> Lost Voices - I love this cover! l think it's the sea and the sun together.

When you read the blurb this cover has a strong meaning and you don't know if it's the brother and sister hugging or a couple. Love how it's black and white also!
 >> Nightshade
Who doesn't love this cover? Her hair that great colour and how she is looking at you really makes you pick the book up and see who she is.

This was the first angel book l read and l picked it up because of this amazing cover! It really gives you a glimpse of the world inside this book before reading it.
Torment (Fallen, #2)
The scene in this cover is amazing! I love how it looks all dark and misty. I also love her dress and hair.
Top 10
 >> Fallen
Again, like Torment l love this background. It tells you the book is going to be a dark book, l also love how she is standing and it makes you ask yourself lots of questions!
Another great book with another great cover, l love how the lightening goes down over the writing.
>> Shiver
Simple but yet shows you so much about this book, the branches shows you that the woods will be involved and l really love how the love heart is the only color, makes you focus on that.
This is the only none paranormal cover here but l do love this one. It makes the book look like a really girly read which l loved back when l read this book (Still do but more paranormal now!)

American Vampire
I love this cover for the simple reason of the guy giving out the 'mystery' look. The cover made me want to find more out about the main cover and after reading it l had fell in love
with him!
.
I have been so busy and haven't read much at all! I will get back to everyone's comments on the 'Waiting on Wednesday' asap. I really appreciate comments so keep them coming!

Waiting on Wednesday (#4)

Waiting on Wednesday
"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

.
Ever since l seen this cover l wanted this book, the cover is just amazing and really stands out. I hadn't read many angel books when l seen this book and wanted it so wasn't sure as to whether l would enjoy them. I thought this book would be one which wouldn't disappoint me so l pre ordered it and have been waiting since!
Now l hope it lives up to my big exceptions.

Paperback or Hardback? (#2)

Another post of Paperback or Hardback?
Previous post l did of this is here - #1

>> Hardback
Paperback <3 <<
This is on my pile of books! I much prefer the paperback version which l have, the sparkles really make it stand out! The paperback's title also stands out more (Don't know why the title of book was changed) It screams to different book genres to me and the paperback looks more like a YA book.
.
.
.
.
 >> USA <3
UK <<
This author is truly lovely and have LOVED every book of hers. These are the same books but the one on the left being released in UK and the other in the USA (on the right) If l was asked a year back the UK version would win straight away but my taste in covers has changed and the USA version would now get my attention more.
.

>> Hardback <3
Paperback >>
When l read this book l read the paperback version and that usually means l prefer that cover but with this l actually prefer the hardback. Such a simple picture seems to carry so much with such a strong story line. l feel that the 'flower' gradually being blown away is like Tessa's life is being in this book and that's what the author has aimed for

The Blurb :
Maddie lives in a world where everything is done on the computer. Whether it’s to go to school or on a date, people don’t venture out of their home. There’s really no need. For the most part, Maddie’s okay with the solitary, digital life—until she meets Justin. Justin likes being with people. He enjoys the physical closeness of face-to-face interactions. People aren’t meant to be alone, he tells her.
Suddenly, Maddie feels something awakening inside her—a feeling that maybe there is a different, better way to live. But with society and her parents telling her otherwise, Maddie is going to have to learn to stand up for herself if she wants to change the path her life is taking.
In this not-so-brave new world, two young people struggle to carve out their own space.
My Review :
This isn’t a book l would usually pick up from looking at the cover but after seeing this around a few blogs and reading the blurb l was straight away drawn to this book. It sounds like an unique read but l did feel it could go wrong if it got too unrealistic.
I didn’t feel this book got too unrealistic in the way of how things are in the future but l did feel some interactions between the characters felt ‘fake’. For example l felt some relationships grew too quickly for how things really would, especially for people who are meant  to never have face to face conversations.
That said, l did really enjoy this book. I wouldn’t say this is a fast paced book but the story line was very intriguing, never knowing what was going to happen next with the characters relationships with each other and also where the story line was going.
This book introduces you to a whole new world which feels very real, the author has done a great job of putting in things which already exist in this world mixed which things that don’t. This makes it all much more believable and gives you the chance to make your own opinion on the things which the author seems to ‘discuss’ with the reader.
My over all opinion of this book is it’s a great read with a unique story line, l enjoyed reading about the different characters. I found Justin a very interesting character and wished his point of view could of been included.
Thanks Netgalley/Houghton Mifflin Harcourt

The Blurb :
Welcome to Penance, Ohio - hell on earth! Graf's a vampire, and he loves it. He's free to indulge his every dark, dangerous and debauched whim. Until a road trip takes him somewhere he never expected. Now he's trapped in Penance, a town that no-one has been able to leave for five years. And he's stuck protecting Jessa who's beautiful, tempting...and very, very human! The townsfolk know she's tied to their troubles and don't look kindly on strangers, meaning Graf and Jessa have only each other to rely on. Which is making it harder for Graf to control his desire to devour her...But if he can keep his bloodlust in check, their bond could be the key to uncovering the secrets that lurk within Penance and delivering the town from it's curse.
My Review :
Ahhh, l love the feeling you get when you finish a book you LOVED! A feeling of satisfaction and over-all happiness.
Right from the first page l fell in love with Graf, his such a typical male but you start to see the different personality's in a male which you see when you get to know him. When you first get to know a guy you often feel like they have no feelings with their macho act but then you start to see different sides to them. I felt like this with Graf, l honestly felt like l was getting to know a real person.
I have never read a book by Jennifer before but if all her books are written like this with such great characters l am a future reader of her books.
Graf is a funny, sarcastic character who made me laugh out loud lots of times, l wonder if he is based on a real person which the author knows?
This story is refreshing, even though Graf has the typical Vampire 'traits' like not being able to go out in the sun etc etc he still felt very unique. The story line itself is as unique as Graf, well at least l haven't read a book like this. Never in the book (until the author wanted you to know) did l know the answer to my many questions and Jennifer left just the right amount of time to reveal these questions. The right timing of revealing things for me, as the reader,  kept me interested all the way through the book.
This book has swearing and quite a 'strong' sex scene in so l would say this is for 15/16 and over.
Overall l would be very happy if l spent money on this book, which l think is the ultimate test, when lm not rich!, Jennifer created a great character which lm sure any reader would fall in love with, l know l did (just don't tell my boyfriend ;]) I already miss Graf now this book has finished.

Paperback or Hardback?

Hardback and Paperback covers are more often than not different, some totally different!
Do you find yourself often liking the Hardback or Paperback covers more?
Here are some which l found ..
Birth Marked - Caragh M. O'Brien
 >> Hardback
Paperback   <<
Paperback definitely wins it for me. I used to hate covers with people on but now the type of covers coming out for paranormal books contain people l am finding myself liking these covers more. Still l don't tend to love a cover which has the main and only focus a person. The paperback makes you ask questions inside your head. Like who is this person? Where is she?

>> Hardback

Paperback  ♥ <<

Again it's the paperback which win's it for me!
I love the patterns around the titles on both books but l love the paperback having one main focus whereas the hardback as lots of different things with no main focus.
>> Hardback
Paperback  ♥ <<

Such a simple difference but for me the paperback would attract me. I like the font more.
Great cover, simple and you know straight away love is going to be part of this book.

Which one is your favourite?
