.... The Blurb  ...

Conflicted. Controlled. Carnal.

In the safety of her little town, Gabi’s used to practicing control.
But silencing nightmares has come at a lonely cost.
In her world, practice hasn’t made perfect—It’s made
Pretend.
Then fate sends an irresistible stranger to her rescue.
Edgy. Commanding. Intimidating. And surely able to see into her very soul..
He’s everything she dreams about...and everything she fears.

After surviving a shattering loss, Jake is finished with grief and guilt.
Determined to live again, he moves forward—vowing to keep one thing sacred.
Unapologetically dominant, his intentions for a woman are clear.
Submit.
And don’t expect what he can never offer.
He knows what he wants and how he wants it.
And now...he wants her.

.... My Thoughts   ...
In Short
This is a big book which kept my interest throughout.
- Gabi and Jake both have their own history which is luring.
- The chemistry is hot with plenty of sweet and funny scenes too.

In Long
Safe In His Storm is a big book at over 550 pages and I have to admit, I always worry I will lose interest when a book is so big. I needn't had worried about that with this book!

The main characters, Gabi and Jake, both have difficult pasts which are still effecting them to this day. This was quite a big part of the book because, as a reader, I was learning about both Gabi and Jake throughout the whole book not just the beginning. Especially Gabi who is much more of a closed book than Jake and it took her a long time to open up, even a little. Being kept in the dark about Gabi's history was really luring and different, often the reader knows just not the other characters so I found this really refreshing.

I really liked Jake, his probably one of the most caring doms I have met and he didn't just talk the talk. His actions were really sweet and thoughtful and he definitely acted on his thoughts. I couldn't help but fall for him.

The storyline is very much revolved around getting to know the characters and although I never felt on the edge of my seat through suspense I never felt this book needed that. Gabi and Jake are both such well thought out characters they offer the reader so much.

Final Thoughts
Annalise Delaney is a very talented author who has created really strong characters that come alive when together. The chemistry is hot and the scenes were not just steamy but had plenty of funny and sweet scenes.

Quotes
'Oh? What if you change your mind between now and then? Don't you find it precarious to show your hand before you're sure all the cards have been dealt?'

How many times have you fantasised about me taking you, Gabrielle? Peeling off your clothes, touching your flesh, and having my every way with you?'

'He was different. Edgy. Commanding. A little intimidating. And she found herself wanting more.'
