.... The Blurb ....
WHEN HATE BECOMES OBSESSION…
Mistaken for her beautiful half-sister, Ellen Winthorp is taken captive by a madman who declares that she will be his "fifteen": the fifteenth victim of a vicious mafia blood feud. Armed with only her instincts, Ellen must resist her captor for as long as she can—which is easier said than done the more she's exposed to the complex man beneath the beast.
Because Mischa Stepanov isn’t a mindless monster—he’s a wolf, and she’s the unwitting doe caught in his midst.
Unraveling the torment of his past may be her only hope of salvation...
Or the secrets uncovered may destroy them both.
.... My Thoughts ...
In Short
- I became absorbed in the darkness.
- Things were made more intense by only being from one of the characters POV.

In Long
This is my first book by Lana Sky and wow, this book challenged me like no other. I have never read a book like this, I became absorbed in this dark, disturbing, brutal world without a few pages.
This book is written all from Ellen's POV which I feel made things even more intense. Most books I read like this has it from both POV's which means you come to understand both characters, their motives, feelings and actions. Whereas with XV I read this book completely in the dark about Mischa And it made everything that much more dark, intriguing and challenging. Challenging? Because I didn't like him, I didn't understand his actions, his brutally. He is a mystery, but one written in such a way he has me enthralled and found I actually liked this. Lana was a genius with how much information she gives the written and just as you come to hate Mischa so much that it would start to spoil things she gives another glimpse in to his background, a reason to stick with the darkness.
I feel how this book is written goes against what a lot of books ensure they do, giving a nice side to the darkness, a fairy tale spin on the darkness almost but Lana doesn't offer this and I am so glad she didn't because it worked. It really worked.
This book is very very very dark, full of violence which can be hard to read. I spent the whole book wanting to comfort Ellen and spur her on to stay strong. She's 'damaged' but not broken. My goodness she's strong and the writing portrays her in a beautiful, heart wrenching way.
The story line is, I guess, slower. A lot is happening but also nothing is going anywhere fast, sometimes on repeat, yet I loved it. There is just no time to breath.

Final Thoughts
XV is a book full of darkness which quickly became my addiction.
