Intense.
That is probably The Land of God's and Monsters summed up well. In fact it's probably one of the most intense book I have ever read.
Lurring, deep and enthralling, I couldn't put this down. I felt exactly how I could imagine Pet feeling, holding my breath to see what Ares would do next, it's so unpredictable, its so so raw.
Ares, even by the end of the book, is quite a mystery to me. In some ways I wish we got to know him more and see more of him but in another way I really liked that there is still so much I want to get to know about him, it will make the second book even more intriguing. I feel like at the moment I hate him, his dark motives for 'Pet' and his actions, how can I not? But there is something there in my mind telling me .. maybe.. just maybe I don't ?!
Pet is admirable, broken and left feeling so so confused. I actually really felt her emotions so strong throughout this book and went down a gritty road with her.
Final Thoughts
This is a roller coaster of a ride which you can not prepare yourself for.
