Waiting on Wednesday #91

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event hosted at Breaking The Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Shudder by Samantha DuranteShudder - Samantha Durante
Published : 15th June 2013
Shudder is second in the Stitch Trilogy. I read Stitch in August last year and really enjoyed it, my review is here if you want to check it out =)
This is a YA dystopia and science fiction book based around a main character called Alessa.
I won't go too much into what I thought about Stitch as my review says my thoughts but I am excited to read Shudder and see what happens next in Alessa's life and in what direction Samantha has took the story in now.

The Blurb :
DO NOT READ IF YOU ARE YET TO READ STITCH.
Stitch blurb can be read here.

It’s only been three days, and already everything is different.

Paragon is behind her, but somehow Alessa’s life may actually have gotten worse. In a wrenching twist of fate, she traded the safety and companionship of her sister for that of her true love, losing a vital partner she’d counted on for the ordeal ahead. Her comfortable university life is but a distant memory, as she faces the prospect of surviving a bleak winter on the meager remains of a ravaged world. And if she’d thought she’d tasted fear upon seeing a ghost, she was wrong; now she’s discovering new depths of terror while being hunted by a deadly virus and a terrifying pack of superhuman creatures thirsting for blood.

And then there are the visions.

The memory-altering “stitch” unlocked something in Alessa’s mind, and now she can’t shake the constant flood of alien feelings ransacking her emotions. Haunting memories of an old flame are driving a deep and painful rift into her once-secure relationship. And a series of staggering revelations about the treacherous Engineers – and the bone-chilling deceit shrouding her world’s sorry history – will soon leave Alessa reeling…

The second installment in the electrifying Stitch Trilogy, Shudder follows Samantha Durante’s shocking and innovative debut with a heart-pounding, paranormal-dusted dystopian adventure sure to keep the pages turning.

Top Ten Books Dealing With Tough Subjects
If you haven't read this book then read it. Seriously, READ IT! It's amazing and really had me feeling so many emotions. It's a shocking book which I became very wrapped up to the point where all I could think about was what was going to happen next. It's not a true story but everything about it feels real.

I feel like I am going to repeat myself with each book by saying how powerful this book is but it really is powerful. It's about a girl in a abusive relationship who tries to get away. The character building in this story is amazing.

But I Love Him
I was so excited to get my hands on this book and had huge expectations. Although I didn't give it 5/5 I definitely loved this book despite the difficult subject.

Not quite on the same level as the previous books but this book is about a girl who is held captive and the person who took her won't talk to her. I found it really interesting to see what isolation can do to someone and how emotions work. Good read!

A very raw book about an abusive relationship which took me on an very raw roller coaster.

This is a story about a young boy with a face deformity and how it effects the people around him, not just him. The most powerful thing about this book for me was seeing how it doesn't just effect  him but his family's and friends life and having to deal with everything.

Whisper
This is a story about a deaf girl and how she goes about her life with her disability. A very interesting book which had me seeing things in a different light.

This is probably the most shocking and hardest read in whole list because this is a true story written by the girl who went through some terrible events. It's about a British girl who is kidnapped and has to become a sex slave.

Hostage Three - Nick Lake
This isn't a powerful book or anything as such but deals with a girl who is kidnapped by pirates. The relationships in this story and how they change while in captivity was really interesting.

Cover Crazy #92

Consume - Melissa Darnell
Oh I love this cover! The white and red being used as main colours isn't something I have seen before but it really works and makes the cover bright and stand out.
I love this cover because :
- The red and white together. It makes the colour red seem very powerful and so pretty.
- The girl's dress is so pretty and reminds me of summer which I love.
- I like the tagline under the title but feel the tagline itself isn't that great, it doesn't draw me.
- I like the font of the title, it just suits the cover. I think if it was in fancy writing it would look silly because you have all the pattern around the edge of the cover.
- Love the like little red 'fairy lights'. Magical.
Resist (Breathe, #2)
Resist - Sarah Crossan
I don't ADORE this cover but I do really like it. What makes me like it even more is because I know from looking at it that this is in the same series as Breathe, also by Sarah. It's so nice to have covers which are alike in the same series!
I love this cover because :
-  Like I said above, love how it's like the first cover in the series.
- Love the little poppy at the front!
- Covers which info you it's part of a series, I straight away love them, why don't all books have this?
- Inside the bubble is such a pretty scene, I love all the green and branches over the top of the bubble too.
- I think this is an improvement on the 1st cover.

Hollywood Holiday (Red Carpet, #2)Hollywood Holiday - Sasha Summer
Published : 7th December 2012
So I know this book is already out but I didn't actually know about it and thought it deserved a WoW even though it's already released.
I loved the first in this series which was Hollywood Ever After, the writing and character building was so good I straight away wanted to read more books by Sasha. When I found out about Hollywood Holiday I straight away added it to my list, definitely recommend this series and will hopefully read this soon.
