In Long
I started Magic Man having just finished a really intense and dark book and was so relieved when I found Magic Man was just what I needed. Magic Man had me smiling from the first few pages, I loved Millie's interactions with her smarty pants daughter, Ivy.Millie and Ivy are a fab pair and have such a lovely bond, it was really lovely reading and getting to know these two. Any scenes with them in were heart warming and at a few points in this book I got a nice warm feeling.
Maxwell is probably every girls dream! He is just what both Millie and her daughter need but Millie isn't so sure. Millie is a vulnerable character which Maxwell sees from the start and acts on this. I really liked seeing their relationship and reading to see what direction things would go in. Personally for me though I like a bit more of a build up than what I felt there was in Magic Man.
Magic Man is quite a calm book with not much 'drama' as per se but I enjoyed the characters which Ashley created.
Final Thoughts
Magic Man is a gentle romance book which was lovely to read and despite it not being 'gripping' I did enjoy reading it and the slower paced book was just what I needed.
Quotes
Nobody just rode a bike their first time. Everybody knew, you started small, and then moved on from there. Dating Maxwell was like jumping on a Harley when what you really needed was a pink My Little Pony bike with training wheels.
