 ... The Blurb  ...

“First, he held a gun to my head. Then he blew my world apart..."

Dante Santiago is a criminal with no conscience. He’s a whisper of a name, a faceless stranger… A man content to dwell in the shadows of his underworld.

Dante’s enemies found a weakness in him once. He’ll never let it happen again. That’s until the night Eve Miller walks past him on a dirty, desolate street. Now she’s his captive, kept at the whim of a man with no kindness or morality.

Eve’s an innocent, his angel, but she too is harboring a dark secret. For years she’s been fighting a private war with the illegal drugs trade, with the cartel responsible for murdering her brother. She’s closer to revenge than she’s ever been until Dante’s duplicity blows her world apart.

Theirs is a relationship borne of hate but neither can deny the fire that rages between them. But Dante’s a haunted man. He knows only pain and suffering until Eve sees a spark of light buried deep within the shadows of his heart.

Soon Eve must make a choice. Save Dante Santiago’s soul or lose herself to his darkness forever…

 ... My Thoughts ...

In Short
- I couldn't stop thinking about Eve and Dante
- I loved the interactions between Eve and Dante.
Catherine doesn't give you a chance to breath a sigh of relief with the fast paced story line.

In Long
Have you ever been drawn into a book so quickly you couldn't put it down after the first line? Hearts of Darkness did exactly that, it pulled me in so quickly and all I could think about was Eve and Dante's story. It captivated my mind.

I absolutely loved the interactions between Eve and Dante, even without a strong storyline I just know I would have loved watching these two together. Their chemistry is real, raw and wrong. Wrong for so many reasons but right for so many too.

The storyline is very fast paced. Catherine doesn't give you a chance to breath a sigh of relief before the next bomb shell, the next heart pumping scenes where you are on the edge of your seat. Constantly left guessing throughout what is going to happen. I was hanging on every word, needing to see what would happen next.

Dante isn't someone you mess with but he also doesn't hide from who he is. He knows exactly who is he and what he does and I found this very refreshing. His character is so intense and intriguing, i  just couldn't get enough of him. I know I shouldn't like him or fall for him but that's exactly what happened, i totally fell for him.

Eve is someone who I warmed to quickly, she's someone I would want to be friends with in real life. She's strong but not indestructible which makes her so real. Her come backs made me smile every time and I wanted to cheer her on with how she dealt with situations.

Final Thoughts
As I finished Darkness of Hearts and put my kindle down it took me a while to feel like I was actually back in the real world and not in Dante and Eves story anymore. Throughout the whole book I forgot about anything but their story and finished it with a serious case of 'book hangover'. I cant WAIT for book two!!!!!!!!!

Quotes
'He is my best of times and my worst...'

'Take off that dress, Eve, or so help me god l'll rip it from your body.'

I don't want to do anymore quotes to ensure my review is spoiler free.
