.... The Blurb  ...
Life lesson number one… If you find the love of your life, fight for him.

Life lesson number two… If you’re dumb enough to let the love of your life go, don’t let years pass without trying to get him back.

Life lesson number three… If he does come back, don’t help him take over your father’s multi-million-dollar company…even if your father had it coming.

I fell in love, had it all, and lost it all in the blink of an eye. I was young, naïve, and not in control of my own life. I was resigned to the fact that I would never see Sam again. So when I attended a meeting with the unknown buyer initiating a hostile takeover of my father’s company, I was stunned and horrified to come face to face with Sam. Only this wasn’t the Sam that I remembered. Gone was the sweet, romantic, kind boy I loved, and in his place was a cold, ruthless, and calculating man. Maybe I was right. Maybe I would never see my Sam again… or would I?

.... My Thoughts   ...

In Short
- Alice has created strong and sweet characters.
- The Long Way is told in dual POV which I enjoyed.

In Long
The Long Way starts off in the past with a scene where Ashton and Sam are young and in love. Its a sweet look in to what they had together and makes things even more bittersweet when it then fast forwards to the 'now' where they no longer know each other.

I find some second chance romances can be solely focused on just the two characters and nothing outside of that but this wasn't the case for 'The Long Way'. Ashton has her father to deal with who is abusive and controlling. As much as she wants to rebel she just can't if she wants to protect people she cares for, I admire that about her and it also makes things very much more 'real' instead of a case of 'oh poor old weak Ashton'. She is definitely not weak!

Being told is dual POV meant I was able to get to know both Sam and Ashton which I really enjoyed. Sam is a sweet character and Ashton brings out the best in him. I loved seeing him transform the more time he spent with her.

Final Thoughts
The Long Way is a sweet second chance romance which I really enjoyed and couldn't wait to pick back up again. The characters are both unique and when they come together just flourish. I enjoyed getting to know both Ashton and Sam and reading their story.

Quotes
'I needed him then, and I need him now'

'When I'm with Sam, I get lost. He makes it okay for me to do that, to let go, be reckless, because I know he's got me. He'll always take care of me in that way.'

'Yes, It's the most wonderful and perfect king of boring there is.'
