What do you do when everybody says you’re someone you’re not?

Alex wants change. Massive change. More radical than you could imagine.

Her mother is not happy, in fact she’s imploding. Her dad walked out.

Alex has turned vegetarian, ditched one school, enrolled in another, thrown out her clothes. And created a new identity. An identity that changes her world.

And Alex—the other Alex—has a lot to say about it.

Alex As Well is a confronting and heartfelt story of adolescent experience—of questioning identity, discovering sexuality, navigating friendships and finding a place to belong. Alex is a strong, vulnerable, confident, shy and determined character, one you will never forget.

With the same tenderness and insight as YA stars such as John Green and David Levithan, Alyssa Brugman has crafted a knockout story about identity, sexuality and family that speaks effortlessly to a universal teen experience.

 .................................... My Thoughts   ....................................
In Short
- Alex As Well is a breath of fresh air.
- Alex is a strong and intriguing character. .
- This isn't a book you forget long after you have put it down.

In Long
Wow! I am going to be totally honest and say that I picked this book up after telling myself to pick something up which I wouldn’t usually. I am so glad that I at least tried the first few pages of this because it only took a few pages for me to become totally intrigued!
Alex As Well is a breath of fresh air and totally unique within itself. I haven’t ever read a book like this and I am sure I won’t ever again. Alex’s character is a very strong one which comes across very real and alive in the book, I definitely feel that her character made this book. It’s written in a way which makes you feel like you’re going on this journey with her makes it all that more personal.
What I personally love about books is that you can pick a book up and enter a totally new world, escaping your own life for the time you read. Alex As Well really achieved this for me; I totally zoned out from the world around me while reading this and became absorbed in Alex’s life. It's one of those books you don't stop thinking about even after you have put it down.

Final Thoughts
This is a strong and powerful book which makes you see the world from a someone else’s point of view.
